They combine strong legal knowledge with pragmatic business judgment and know how to translate regulatory requirements into scalable processes, policies, and practical solutions that enable business growth. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead the Regulatory & Compliance function and manage a team of 2–3 specialists, including the DPO function, overseeing hiring, development, performance, and workload allocation across business units.
- Provide regulatory guidance and compliance expertise across a portfolio of businesses operating in five different verticals.
- Build and manage a network of external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring high-quality support and effective budget management.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on the business over the medium and long term (12–36 months).
- Establish and maintain regulatory standards, frameworks, and best practices across the organization, ensuring consistency, knowledge sharing, and cross-business learning.
- Partner closely with business leaders to identify regulatory risks early and develop practical solutions that support business growth while maintaining compliance.
- Drive the continuous improvement of compliance processes, governance frameworks, and regulatory operating models across the group.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
- 5+ years of experience in regulatory and compliance roles within digital businesses.
- 2+ years of people management experience, including leading lawyers, compliance specialists, or regulatory professionals.
- Strong hands-on experience with subscription regulation and consumer protection requirements for subscription-based digital products.
- Deep understanding of subscription-specific regulatory requirements, including auto-renewals, cancellation flows, billing disclosures, consumer rights, and related compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience with one or more of the following areas:
- iGaming regulation and advertising compliance;
- Privacy and data protection (DPO or equivalent responsibilities);
- Fintech regulation and licensing.
- Proven track record of building compliance programs, policies, frameworks, or playbooks from the ground up in an international environment.
- Direct experience working with regulators, including licensing processes, regulatory inquiries, audits, inspections, or similar engagements.
- Experience selecting, managing, and evaluating external legal counsel across multiple jurisdictions, including ownership of related budgets.
- Strong risk assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide practical and commercially sound recommendations.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with experience communicating directly with regulators, external counsel, and senior stakeholders.
- Nice to Have
- Experience working within a multi-business-unit group, holding company, venture builder, or other fast-scaling international organization.
- Experience with AI governance and emerging technology regulation.
- Experience in sanctions compliance.
- Legal qualification in an EU, UK, or US jurisdiction.
